Comments
This Cyperus is a mat-forming perennial from extensively creeping rhizomes. Introduced from e. Asia, it is quite weedy and has become more common in Virginia during the past few decades.
Habitat
River shores and sand bars, freshwater tidal marshes, tidal shores, moist to wet pastures, fields, ditches, lawns, and low roadsides. Infrequent throughout, but apparently spreading rapidly; may form large colonies where found.
