There are only a handful of collections from Virginia, all from montane wetlands in the Ridge and Valley region. One specimen (DUKE) is known from a Ridge and Valley calcareous marsh that supports numerous vascular plants that are disjunct from similar habitats to the north and west.
Calcareous fens and marshes, pond edges, and swamps in the mountains. Apparently very uncommon or rare. (Biodiversity occurrence data published by DUKE, NY, WTU.
