- A northern sedge that reaches a southern limit of its range in nw. Virginia. Recent re-examination of specimens from the sole Virginia locality has called the original identification into question. Study of herbarium material is still in progress.

- Mafic fens. Rare, nw. mountains; known only from Big Meadows, in Shenandoah National Park (Northern Blue Ridge).
